Finnish design pioneer Oiva Toikka’s iconic collection of Iittala glass birds combines his passion for nature and blown glass art. This gives every bird its own personality making it a truly one of a kind art object. Each bird is handcrafted and mouthblown at the Iittala Glass Factory. Iittala brings a familiar gentleman back to the flock in a new softer sand Birds by Toikka Waiter is the smaller but just as grand partner of Butler. Birds by Toikka
Oiva Toikka (1931-2019) is one of the greatest names in Finnish design. His iconic collection of Birds by Toikka first took flight back in 1972 at the Nuutajärvi glass factory with the creation of his small glass Flycatchers. Since then hundreds of new birds have joined the flock. The collection embodies a rich fusion of glassmaking traditions and would not have been possible without Toikka’s hands-on-approach at the glassworks and his keen understanding of each employee’s skills. Today, each glass bird is handcrafted and mouthblown at the Iittala Glass Factory.
